Tuesday night at The Dickens Tavern is a good time. It’s pretty much that simple, people. If you’re anywhere near Longmont on Tuesday night and you’re not there, man… I mean, I just wonder what’s wrong with you. The food is amazing, the beer is… and I quote… “delightful”, and these Mind Games Live teams are throwin’ down. Round 1 was Hink Pink, which raised the important question… What IS a hinkity pinkity? Unfortunately, no one knew that this evening’s question 9 answer was “rejection detection,” but that’s probably a good thing. Overall, round 1 went well for Mind Gamers at Dickens and it came down to a tie breaker between Zipperheads and Venus Fly Traps, even after both teams turned in their email bonus answers. The Traps squeaked out this early victory, but… Zipperheads would not be silenced!
Round 2! Ding! Ding! Ding! Balderdash proved interesting. Style points… that Mind Games Live exclusive concept where you can earn a 1/2 point just for be creative, entertaining, or a smart mouth. We all knew what “midriff” meant… everyone got two points on that one! But, “fungible” was a bit more challenging, and the definition for “chintz” should have nothing to do with the host’s outfit if you’re hoping for points. This time, Zipperheads reigned supreme and won themselves a tasty, cheesy appetizer for their hard work and mastery of abstruse lexeme.
Finally, it was time for the most challenging round of the night, but also a chance to earn four points per question in Out of Order. We learned about child development, world population, classic rock, and most importantly… the U.S. Presidents. We all love Gerald Ford! And, we all got points for his imaginary election. The one man wonder that is Bondomatic even got some style points this round, but I cannot tell you how. You’ll just have to figure it out for next time and see if you can earn some yourself next time. At the end of round three, I <3 Your Face was the uncontested winner with 32 points and that was enough for them to take the evening overall as well with 51!
