********************************************************************************
Round 1; We started the night off playing the shenanigans of ‘Tribond’ !! This game gives you three things and you have to determine the common theme between them or the ‘tribond’. I didn’t know The Admiral, The Worm & The Stilt were all nicknames of basketball players.. I learned a little something here, I know almost nothing about sports. This round was tied up at the end, I could see Team 23 and the Zipper Heads staring each other down to see if they were going to play their email extra! They both hesitated and the window of opportunity closed; It came down to a Play Off! We read the tie breaker question and kicked on a song, the tension in the room was thick. But in the end Team 23 proved themselves winners this round!! Way to go guys!!
Round 2; The fun kept going with ‘Categorically Speaking’. This game really gets creative and makes our teams think.. For example can you think of a unique pop culture ‘sex symbol’ that’s last name starts with the letter A? One of our teams oddly put down Roseanne Arnold; that’s creepy but funny also. It gave everyone a good laugh!! Although, I am deeply concerned for the person who thinks Roseanne is a sex symbol.. {shivers} This round was close three teams scored 14pts and one team edged ahead with 17pts winning the round, GO ZIPPER HEADS !! !!
I have been letting each person from each team submit an answer for the BBQ lately—it makes it interesting to put teammates against one another.. who doesn’t want a free cold beer?!?
This week we had two players tie each other for the closest answer so I gave a beer to both of them! WOOT to Michael of Team 23 and Charles of Happiness is a warm Guinness!
Round 3; Rocked our final round by playing ‘Chronology’. Chronology is exactly that; you are making an educated guess as to when an event in time took place.. This game had our younger players scratching their heads and some of our ‘veteran players’ showing off their wisdom. :0) with the potential for one to four points per question our teams were really trying this round! This was another close round within two points for the win, but yet again our veteran team ZIPPER HEADS proved they’re not messing around tonight and won their second round in a row!
And your champions!! The ZIPPER HEADS!!!Goooo Bluuueee wasss Drruuuunnnkkk :0)
All of our rowdy regulars came out and were ready to have some fun. We were happy to have back the 1st Place Losers, Team 23, Venus Fly Traps, Zipper Heads, Go Blue, Snort Your Engines and Spike Mauler! Where was Bondo.. that mystery will be solved next week!!
Round 1; We got the party started playing ‘Mad Gab’! This game gives you a puzzled statement which you sound out the answer by pronouncing it phoenitically.. but in a bar filled with competitive teams everyone had to be a little sneakier with this game. The teams were very entertained with the hooked-on-phonics style game and did very well at it. We ended the round quickly with a 3 way tie.. but the Zipper Heads edged ahead of the competetion skillfully using their Email Extra point and WON the round!! Way to go boys, well played.
Round 2; We kept the fun going with a game called ‘Famous Name Us’. This game challenges our teams pop culture, history and movie knowledge.. It takes a big brain to show off this round. This game was very entertaining and it had our teams literally racing their answers up to us.. their so cutthroat. Even though two teams used their Email Extra this round ended still ended in a tie between Team 23 & The 1st Place Losers. We had a new tie breaker this week.. I requested that one member of each team 21 years of age and older come up to face off! We had half a rocks glass filled with bud light and a stir straw in each one. On the count of 3 we had them race to the bottom. All of our teams rally’d around them cheering them on! In the end Jessie from the 1st Place Losers won it for her team! You go girl!
Round 3; We ended the night playing ‘Likewise’ all though it’s not a cooperative game we are hoping that our teams E.S.P.N. is on tonight as the teams that think the most alike win big!! For example we were looking for a funny snack; we got responses like Funyuns, Twinkies and Ding Dongs. Reading each answer aloud made for quite an entertaining evening!! :0) This was a really high scoring round and it had our teams rilled up!! The winner for this round was yet again, The 1st Place Losers!
Representing The Dickens Tavern tonight was Bondomatic, Zipper Heads, Go Blue!, Team 23, The Unknowns, Tom’s Twos, Yo-DINI, Kayden and Something About Guinness.
Round 1: We kicked the night off playing ‘Hink Pink’ this game gets the rhyming part of our brains going. Can you think of a hinkity pinkity on your own? There all over the web since this game came out and our teams know a fickle pickle when they see one. This game wasn’t much of a challenge for our teams as all of the teams score 7 or higher in this round. We ended up with a tie between team Go Blue and Something about Guinness. After a tie breaker question about the world cup Something about Guinness showed they were still lucky after their Vegas vacation and won the 1st round.
Round 2: We played a game called ‘Don’t quote me’ this one was challenging the teams’ knowledge of pop culture, history, movies and more. Do you remember quotes from Pulp Fiction, how about a quote from Babe Ruth? Our teams have an impressive range of knowledge; they all did very well this round also. As close as this was, the round went to Team 23, whose team is growing in size and in power.
Round 3: The night ended playing ‘Start 2 Finish’ This game is perfect for those who love the daily crossword.. begins with a T and ends with an A .. we play it on Tuesdays… TRIVIA! Everyone loves this game but it does make us think. This game had our teams laughing pretty good- the lost boys were in Peter Pan before they were vampires.. lol. This game gave Team 23 their 2nd round win in a row! Boo-Yah! Way to go guys!!
Yo-Dini, took home the bacon this week! Congrats on your first win!
Thank you to everyone for coming out and playing with us. You all put a big smile on my face!!
ROUND 1: We kicked the night off with a fabulous game of ReFraze! This game got us off to a hillarious start. Some of our teams were obviously blindly guessing and somehow pulling it off, awesome. It’s pretty funny how many people know Captain Kangaroo but don’t know Pride and Prejudice. Odd. This round came down to a tie between Go Blue! and Team 23!! The crowd was tense as we waited for a result, but BAM! Team 23 pulled it out!! Way to go guys!
ROUND 2: Kept the fun alive playing Go Mental! This games challenges the mind in a different way, if I listed off 4 sports teams would you know which were baseball and which were football?? Our teams could. They were on it if the question was about sports or movies but not so much about flowers and fairys. This game put our teams knowledge to the test! Coming out on top again were Team 23 & Go Blue.. 2nd time around with the tie breaker and Team 23 was victorius once again!!
ROUND 3: We ended the night playing Eye Know! This one was a 2 parter- 1st half we had our teams identify an image, 2nd part was a question about the logo/image. Our teams really have an eye for brands and logos.. their knowledge about the companies came up a bit short but it was funny seeing the random guesses they threw out. This game ended with a tie yet AGAIN between Team 23 and Go Blue! This time GO BLUE! was the winner, breaking Team 23’s winning streak!
Team 23 and Go Blue! were tied every round tonight. WOW these two teams were really on their game tonight! The final tie breaker question proved once and for all it pays not to be a Dodgers fan, HA. Just kidding Team 23 won out right showing off their never ending knowledge of random stuff. Way to go guys!
It was a wet & wild night in Longmont!
A little rain won’t stop our regulars from coming down to play; our teams filled The Dickens Tavern on Tuesday night eager to play Mind Games Live! The night kicked off with six teams playing; Double D’s, Zipper Heads, 1st Place Losers, Kicken Dickens Chickens, Team 03 & Da Team of 1!
Round 1: To kick of the night we played ‘Finish Lines’! This game challenges our memory of quotes.. The 1st half of a quote was given and the teams had to complete it. Like “Ask not what your country can do for you… ask what you can do for your country” Our teams did very well with this game.. the first round ended up in a tie between 1st Place Losers and the Zipper Heads. After a tie breaker question 1st Place Losers took the round kicking off their night of good fortune.
Round 2: Kept the fun going with a little ‘Balderdash’ This game is all about the meaning of things.. what is the definition of Balderdash anyway? Probably something ridiculous.. With the two part questions our teams went balls out trying to guess the 1st time for 2 points, even when they knew they were wrong.. lol. The multiple choices seemed to help A LOT here! This round ended pretty close also giving the round to the Zipper Heads! Who always love winning beer!
Round 3: We finished up the night playing a new game called ‘It Fits’ this was a new game for us to try out. You are given 4 categories/subjects and you are trying to think of a word that best fits all 4 categories. This game was fun for our teams; they got very creative about their answers. As the game continued our teams really got the hang of it and were racking up the high points. This game had some real contenders but the round ended up going to The 1st Place Losers, who edged out the win by just 4 points.
AnD tHe WiNnEr iS!! AnD tHe WiNnEr iS!! AnD tHe WiNnEr iS!!
1st PLACE LOSERS!! They dominated this night winning 2 of 3 rounds and the overall prize! They also were the proud new owner of their very own board game compliments of Mind Games Lives Brainy Points program! This is why it pays to play Mind Games Live!
As always we packed the bar, got everyone set up with food, drinks & answer sheets and we were ready to play! We had 9 teams come out and play with us!! Representing tonight were; Zipper Heads, Team 23, Double D’s, First Place Losers, Pugs not Drugs, The Mods, Da Team of 1, Perk-o-laters and CSC!
Round 1: We kicked the night off playing Catch My Drift. In this game we learned most of our teams don’t get “swol” but love to get “crunk”!! Our teams had a lot of fun deciphering these slang words. Everyone did very well, so well in fact that we had a 7 way tie! We had to break out the tie breaker question… this round went to one of our new teams Pugs not Drugs! Nicely done guys!!
Round 2: We continued the fun playing Malarkey. This round was a little hinky, challenging our teams knowledge of lifes imponderable questions.. We all learned why we say “it raining cats & dogs”. Our teams loved the challenge of this round and we constantly got a big roar from the crowd when we displayed the correct answers. This round went to The Mods! Way to go I-D-A-H-O!!
On average how many babies are born annually? 4,025,000! Everyone submitted an answer but this beer went to Shel Rock of team CSC with a guess of 4,100,000 only 75,000 off! Woo Hoo!!
Round 3: We ended the night playing Family Feud. This game always gets our crowd riled up! Who are these 100 people surveyed and why do they like fruit more than pizza, they must be wearing crazy pants! In this round we got to give a shout out to COLORADO and reminisce playing DOCTOR-NURSE.. lol This round was owned by the ever-growing Team 23! They were very pleased!!
****
All of our teams were ready to go as soon as the 1st song played off our 90’s mix-tape; it was more fun than a hot pink fannypak last night! We filled the bar with a bunch of our regular teams and a handful of fresh new faces ready to play Mind Games Live!!
Representing The Dickens Tavern this week were; Zipper Heads, Team 23, My Goodness My Guinness, Kicken Dickens Chickens, The Mods, Team Gandalf, and the 1st Place Losers.
Round One: We kicked things off this week playing Mad Gab; tink avoud sit? I wish I could explain the perplexed faces some of our teams had while trying to sound it out. It was hilarious!! We had a two way tie at the end until team 1st Place Losers submitted their email extra to pull ahead for the win!
Round Two: We played Take your Best Shot; we thought this game would have everyone guessing but our teams seemed confidant tonight! So confidant in fact that with almost every question no one needed the ‘extra help’!! This game ended with a 3 way tie for 2nd and a 4 way tie for 1st. Teams Zipper Heads, The Kicken Dickens Chickens, 1st Place Losers & and team Gandolf. Everyone busted a move to “I’m too sexy for my shirt” breaking out their best moves! All our teams were such great sports!
Round Three: We played Making the List; this had our teams reaching deep inside their brains for the answers. This game had an all or nothing scoring element that kept our teams on their toes, knowing when to push their luck and not to. This game ended with a 3 way tie for 1st place forcing us to read a tie-breaker question.. this round went to 1st Place losers again, proving again and again they are filled with all kinds of random knowledge :0)
And the WINNER is??
1st Place Losers!! You guys dominated the show this week! Great Job.
Thank you to all of our teams for coming out, look forward to seeing all of you next week.
We had a fabulous time at The Dickens Tavern last night! The sound of top ♫ 80’s ♪ hits filled the bar as we played music all night long!! Who doesn’t love a little New Kids on the Block !? We had the bar packed full of great teams eager to play Mind Games Live!!
7-Teams came out last night to play with us..! Representing The Dickens Tavern this week were; Zipper Heads, Venus Flytraps, Go Blue!, The Kicken Dickens Chickens, We’re Not Supposed To Be Here and Team GE (who was obviously shamelessly plugging their company). Sadly 2-weeks in a row the infamous Bar Boys were too busy to play! Also two of our regular teams couldn’t make it out tonight.. we’re hoping to have everyone next week!
Round 1: We played TriBond.. All you have to do is find the common bond between 3 words.. Like Pie, Earth & Bread.. they all have crust. Aha! It was just that easy last night too! Our teams figured this game out pretty quickly. We had a tie this round and had to resort to a BUBBLE BLOW OFF!! Seriosly, Justin from Team 23 & Amie from the KDC’s raced to chew a piece of Double Bubble & blow a bubble! It was close but the jaws of Justin prevailed, blowing a bubble & winning the round Team 23!!
Round 2: We played Garage Band, and as you can imagine this one is all about the Music! Some of our teams are walking I-Pods with knowledge that would embarass some record executives! I was suprised by some of the random responses we got from our teams, they we’re obviously guessing! This round went to the wits of GO BLUE! It was a fight to the top buy you guys earned it! The teams love to win free drinks.. ohh Bartender.. :0)
Round 3: We played a bar favorite LikeWise. This game gave everyone in the bar a stomach ache from laughing so hard! What a riot! This game was perfect for the last round, all of our teams had already knocked back a couple for the night and we’re ready to get rowdy. At two different points in the night the vibrator was referenced and just sent people over the edge. This round went to our rocking Venus Flytraps! They scored themselves a cold pitcher of beer!!
And The Winner Is?! And The Winner Is?! And The Winner Is?! And The Winner Is?!
Zipper Heads- Way to win the game this week! You deserved it- good game!!
A big thank you to all of our teams for coming out and playing last night, as always it’s a BLAST and I look forward to seeing everyone next week! Bring your brains and dancing boots, we’ve got a 90’s playlist coming your way!
The Dickens Tavern was HoPPiNg tonight!! Wow! The bar was PACKED tonight.. not an empty seat in the house! We had 11 teams come out tonight to stretch their brains but the bar was sooo busy that we had to merge two teams and combine it to 9.
Representing @ Dickens tonight were teams; 1st Place Losers, Venus Fly Traps, Zipper Heads, Bar Boys, Go Blue, A-Team, 1+1=3, Brosephine, Thank GOD for Guinness & MacGregor!!! WoW- That was an awesome turnout! Thanks to all of our teams for coming!!
★Round 1: We kicked things off tonight with a game called Hink Pink. We’ve played this one before at Dickens and the crowd seemed happy to have it back. We had everyone drinking & thinking during this round. Our teams were on their game tonight, and we ended this round with a 3-way tie between some of our veteran teams! 1st Place Losers, Venus Fly Traps & Zipper Heads battled it out with a tie-breaker question.. 3 Random guesses later and we had a winner.. Go Zipper Heads!! Good Job Guys!!
★Round 2: The night continued with a game called Origin of Expressions. This game was a challenge for those who didn’t know older trivia.. but we gave every team a fighting chance with the multiple choice answers! Some teams wished they had a 3 sided coin this round to better guess.. lol. This round had a clear cut winner—Way to take this one 1st Place Losers!! :0)
We let every person in each team submit an answer for this question.. From 1600 to 1900, how many cases of human spontaneous combustion appeared in medical journals? The teams submitted answers as low as zero and as high as 250,000. The answer we were looking for was 97! LOL!
★Round 3: We finished the night playing Word Up! This game challenged our teams vocabulary, lol and after a couple rounds of drinks some of our teams forgot how to spell. This was a high scoring round filled with fun! You’d be surprised by how many words have the letters TOX in them. We had a couple teams run off with the lead early in this game and it was very up close up until the end… But team Thank GOD for Guinness took the prize!! Way to GO!
Thank GOD for Guinness!! WOOT! Way to win it guys! WRX'S!!! HA!
This twosome of brothers had been knocking back the Guinness all night in support of their teams philosophy.. and still was able to edge out a win over the competition!
1st Place Losers = 38pts, Venus Fly Traps = 28pts, Zipper Heads = 31pts, Go Blue = 23pts, A-Team = 19pts, 1+1=3 = 21pts, Brosephine = 19pts, Thank GOD for Guinness = 38pts & MacGregor = 22pts
Last nights show was FuN-tAsTiCaL despite the sudden 8” of SnOw*FaLL dumping down on Longmont!! We had 6 AwEsOmE teams snowshoe in last night to show off their wits & challenge their brains with Mind Games Live! Representing for The Dickens Tavern we had team Zipper Heads, Venus Fly Traps & the ridiculously funny Bar Boys/Bar Girls’! New teams to the show were Go Blue!, Losers, and the A-Team!!!
★To kick of the night right we played FACT or CRAP! This game was hilarious as we stumped every team with a couple of questions testing their knowledge of pop culture. It’s Brooklyn not Bronx, who knew? The new teams dove right in and gave our veterans a run for the money! We had a tie for round winner between Go Blue! and Venus Fly Traps! We had a play off challenging their knowledge of petrols freezing º point (fitting as it was freezing º outside!). VFT proved their girls-only team knew better than that silly Dodgers fan..and won the round! Way to GO! Murphy get them a beer STAT!
★Ohh the shenanigans’ continued with Famous Name Us! Right off the bat GoBlue! proved he wasn’t paying attention and turned in an answer for the Example question.. he ever so graciously (and blushingly) gave a wave to the crowd when I pointed his error out to everyone.. I love having a microphone… good times. This game was awesome, we found out our teams are witted when it comes to mini-actors but not so much about classic literature. Did you know mini-me was a short-stop for the Yankees? Neither did I, lol. Yet AGAIN we had a tie, this time a 3-way! VFT, Go Blue! and Losers were in a battle of wits! This time the toss up went to the new team LOSERS.. woo hoo!
★BonusBeerQuestion!!! We mixed things up and let each individual person submit an answer for the BBQ tonight!! (Genius recommendation from our bar staff, thanks Murphy)That’s right! We put teammates up against each other to see who would win a beer! This made things really exciting for all of our players & out off all of the submissions Willy from the Zipper Heads guessed closest!! This beer is for you Willy!!
★To close the night we played Start 2 Finish this game was supposed to be a stumper but our teams are too smart! I thought coming up with 3-answers might take a bit but we had teams bringing up answer sheets before I was done reading the clues! WoWiE Smarty-Pants!! We flew thru this round.. it was neck & neck between two teams right up to the end. Go Blue! and Losers were in it again! The first tiebreaker was a bust neither team knew the answer…ohhh. 2nd time around LOSERS came out with the win! 2 Rounds in a row, well deserved!!
Go Blue!! Wow- You two rocked it tonight.. They were in every round tiebreaker tonight! Didn’t win any individual rounds but took home the overall prize for the night; $2o.0O Gift Card to The Dickens Tavern!
It was comforting to know if it had been declared a state of emergency that we were in a bar with awesome ♥ people, great food and lots-of-beer! I hope everyone made it home safely- THANK YOU to everyone for coming out despite the weather and playing Mind Games Live!, as always keep your music requests coming and we’ll see you all next week same time, same place!!
♥Your Host♥Awesome Aubree♥
(woot.. look at these awesome teams)
