Creepy Things in a Bathroom and…
Jul 31st, 2010 by Keith
Teams U and OMG - the letter gang

Teams U and OMG - the letter gang

Janelle - somehow I don't think they're bothnamed Janelle

Salvador - and his dolly?

Teams Josh and Foo combined - Josh Foo?

The Erins - there's a story here somewhere

Chuck Steaks - tasty and smart

Green Chitlyns - green's my favorite color

BR - that should be short for BEER

“Creepy things in a bathroom”  was our final question of the evening and provided enough funny answers to prove that I’m not coming to any of your houses.

And the houses I’m not coming to?  They were: JoBros, Josh Foo, Awesome, The Erins, McDoolska, BR, Chuck Steaks, Denise, Nancy, OMG, Paul, Team U, Green Chitlyns, Janelle, Turtles, Your Mom, and Salvador.

We started with ReFraze and it made for a close, close race, but BR pulled out his email extra early to vault past JoBros‘ perfect score to get 9.5 points. Wow, nice move.  And thanks to JoBros this was the round were everyone was figuring out different ways to incorporate “your face” in their answers.

Round 2 challenged everyone with their music knowledge – and although every team had their specialty Chuck Steaks had the most general knowledge and separated themselves from the crowd to take round 2.

And for the BBQ – we had one person guessed 2.5 over and one guessed 2.5 under… so we gave them both drinks!  Good guessing BR and OMG.

Round 3 was definitely the highlight of the evening, with tons of funny, funny answers that had everyone laughing.  We saw some different teams leap to the fore as they had the skills of picking popular answers: The Erins, Denise, Jacob, but by one point Turtles grabbed the final round.

So who was going away with top points for the evening?  It was Chuck Steaks!  Way to play tough.  See it sometimes pays to name your daughter after Natalie Maines from Dixie Chicks.

What a night.  Only our second night there and 3 return teams, and I think we got a lot of new converts this night as well.  Looking forward to seeing who’s got game next week.

Ciao for now,

- Keith

Galactic Conflicts at Bar Louie!
Jul 30th, 2010 by TaylorG

We had another great week at Bar Louie!!

Round 1’s game was Refraze.  California Girls and Jamestic were neck and neck but at the end Funky Fez pulled out the win and used their email bonus point!

In round 2’s game, Garage Band, we welcomed What Would Tim Tebo Do? and Don’t want to Be Here. It was a crazy race between all teams and Bee Bops passed by everyone and took the round!

Finally we started round 3, Likewise, and we were all glad for the diverse teams in the room!  At the end of the round only 2 points separated all the teams!! The Sporks almost caught up but a tie was the end result between Jamestic and What Would Tim Tebo Do? A sudden death playoff and WWTTD? came out on top for the round win!

Overall winner was Funky Fez who scored high in all the rounds!  Great job!

Thanks to all the teams who came out to play! See you next week, same bat time, same bat place!

First Night At Patrick Carroll’s Was a Big Hit!
Jul 30th, 2010 by Brian

It was our first night at Patrick Carroll’s in Denver, and things definitely kicked off with a bang. Our lead singers didn’t come through over the sound system, so I chipped in some vocals, and we were underway…

Round 1, we played Refraze. Cheif took the style point awards while multi-tasking and watching the Rockie’s game. It came down to a tie breaker between AJHS ASC and #1. Both teams hit the question right on the money, which took us to our second tie breaker, and #1 won a round of beer.

We played Garage Band round 2. Ryan Mom second guessed a few of their answers, but ended up as a front runner. They didn’t win it though, the round went to DJ Funk.

Our BBQ went to #1 too, as we headed into Round 3.

Round 3, we played Likewise, definitely the bar favorite. Although the Bakers assured me they understood the round, they turned in “African Anteater” for “funny dance” which raised a few questions. The round went to DJ Funk who edged out Psychological Produce for the win.

The big winner of the nigh was AJHS ASC. Thanks for coming out, and we’ll see you again next week.

How do we score round three???
Jul 29th, 2010 by AlexisM

Tuesday was an interactive night indeed for Mind Games Live at Division Ale House. We maxed at three teams and they held their own for sure. Our teams were: Cleveland Rocks, doobies!, and Mr. Magoo.

We started out in round 1 with the game ReFraze. But doobies! wasn’t to be fooled by these mind bending phrases and took round 1 and gained a sweet Division Ale House t-shirt.

Round 2 took us into the game Garage Band: The Game. Each team did a fantastic job. Only one team could win round 2, and that team was Cleveland Rocks, winning by two points.

Going into the BBQ we had an interesting happening where both Cleveland Rocks and doobies! put down the exact same number. Who knew? However they went over by far too much and Mr. Magoo took the round of drafts!

We then went into Round 3 with the game Likewise. How can you do such a scoring for this game with only three teams? Style Points, that’s how. All three teams were strongly encouraged to use those style points to their advantage. Surprisingly, there was a three way tie! So, we pulled out a tie-breaker question and doobies! won not only round 3 but won with overall points and took the game! It was a fun night at Division Ale House!

Can’t wait for next time.

Until next week, this is Alexis

McCarthy’s

Another exciting night was had at McCarthy’s, as usual. :) Teams were Naughty Natives, Buds Wiser, The Monsters, We Got It, Krause, Clyde Froggie, Mc Jammers (which were really McCarthy’s Jammers, but I liked when they shortened it with the play on words), and JV-BR.  Round one was Refraze, which Buds Wiser won by 1/2 a point!  So, they got the pitcher of beer.  Round two was Garage Band, an all-music questions game that you rocked at (pun intended).  The BBQ question went to Lisa, who got the answer exactly, on the nose! :) We had a little shout-out/sing along Happy Birthday for Robbie before the break, and she said paybacks are in order.  We shall see. ;) Round three was Likewise, a fun game that shows how much people think alike!  At the end of that round, we had a 4-way tie and Krause got closest, winning the $10 gift certificate.  The winner of the overall prize, the $20 off gift certificate was Buds Wiser!  I saw a lot of new faces, and hope to continue seeing them from now on!

The Monsters, being monstrous...or just cute

Buds Wiser, who brought 2 newcomers!

Krause, who also had a birthday in the house

Naughty Natives-Happy Birthday, Robbie!

Come play next week at McCarthy’s and have a laugh, there’s always more than one to be had!  Tuesday night @6:30 off Smoky Hill and Chambers.  Kbye.

It was quite a party at The Dickens Tavern this week! We had quite!! Zipper Heads, Team 23, Hop Along Gang, 1st Place Losers, Venus Fly Traps and Hooters!!

Round 1; We kicked off the fabulous night playing Re-Fraze!! This one is all about jumbled mystery fraze that you have to decipher! :0) This round was a lot of fun, some of the answers read made a couple teams want to kick themselves! We kicked the night off right with a 2-way tie Team 23 and The Hop Along Gang! We had a random tie breaker question and the winner was?? TEAM 23!! What a way to start the night for our honorary birthday boy!! Happy “21st“ Justin.

Round 2; With awesome 80’s music playing in the background we kicked off a game of ‘Garage Band’.  This game is all about music music music!!.. A lot of our teams are all knowing about music! This round was awesome the teams were eager to show off their knowledge!  We would have had a two way tie this round but in the heat of the moment 1st Place Losers pulled out their e-mail extra and took the round. Way to go 1st Place Losers, you guys totally earned this one! Woo Hoo!!

Come rickroll yourselves on in to Hai Bar

Hai Bar

Ohh, the Hai Bar.  Great staff, great music, great SWAG, sushi.  What’s not to love about this location?  For teams this week, we had Just You & I, Sake, I Dream Of Weenie, and R’N'Char at the bar. :) Round one was Refraze, which we had a tie-breaker for.  Just You & I won, so they got drinks for their prize.  Round two was Garage Band, an all music question game and that was our first time playing it.  It was really fun and Just You & I won that game as well, so they got a free appetizer.  Courtnay won the BBQ question and got a pretty yellow drink for that.  She said it was strong, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing! ;) Round three was Likewise, a game that proves how great minds think alike!  Just You & I won that round, and the bar SWAG that consisted of a Malibu Beach towel, a Jagermeister lanyard, a bottle opener of some sort, and a deck of cards.  One of the ladies from the team really liked that prize, as she has a personal bar at home.  It’s always nice to put prizes to good use!  I bet you can guess who won overall and got the $25 gift card…yep, it was Just You & I!  Great job to all the teams, and I’ll seeya next week!

I Dream Of Weenie, laughin' it up

Sake, improvising for the picture. Dig it.

R'N'Char

The winners! Just You & I

Come to Hai Bar next Monday night @7pm and play MGL trivia!  It’s off 32nd and Lowell, below Sushi Hai and next to Chipotle.  Be there! :D Kbye.

This Spot is Golden

Golden Building Department

Team Porch

It was a good day at the Spot in Golden.  The sun was shining and people wanted to stay on the outside patio … where Team Porch preferred to sit, sending in a representative each question to take back to their team and to confer together for an answer.  They managed to out-do team Bartender, who managed to get a style point, but the first round was golden for team Golden Building Department, who managed to get a perfect score for Hink Pink.

While nine points is impressive when there are only nine available — Golden Building Department’s repeat of the exact same score was less than enough to top round two winners: Team Porch, who had 13 points in Balderdash.  And they even managed to do a pretty good vocal impression of a theremin.  Team Porch member Josh also managed to walk away with this week’s Bonus Beer Question.

By round three, Eye Know, the scores were tight and the competition was fierce.  There was some hubbub over the “16th Chapel” that did manage to get straightened out.  However, it was not enough and team Golden Building Department managed to edge out Team Porch by two whole points.  But if you think that was close… the overall scores for both teams were exactly 41; leading to the most intense play-off face-off about sheep gestation in the history of world.  Much to the dismay and perhaps even disgust of Team Porch, the Golden Building Department managed to get the number of days exactly right and won themselves a pretty sweet gift card, but I have a feeling that both teams will be back, bitter and ready to play as the Summer of Swag continues and the prizes are upped with the addition of a movie-pack!Billy Dee Williams approved!

Old Chicago Broomfield 07/24/10
Jul 25th, 2010 by Todd

What a fun night had by all. The big winners for the evening were Yes That, but Monkey Girdle came in with an extremely close second. So close in fact that they would have won if they had an e-mail extra. After last night they signed up and vowed never to let that happen again. Monkey Girdle also lost round one by a hair once again because of an e-mail extra handed in at the last minute by Castration Station. Keith showed me how I could take care of them so there would be no concerns (especially since I announced them the winner just before Castration Station handed in the email extra. My bad.) So Monkey Girdle still got some free beers. In round two, Yes That took the win and satisfied themselves with a lovely appetizer. I don’t know what they got, but I hope it was the Italian Nachos (imagine nachos with all the usual helpings AND pepperoni and sausages!!! Amazing!!!) Moving on the BBQ. Last night we had a tie between one member Castration Station and Jerry from It’s Jerry’s Birthday. I asked how old Jerry turned, but the best Jerry’s group could figure was that he fought in the war… The Revolutionary War! Finally Monkey Girdle pulled a stellar win in round 3, which had been secretly expected all night. I believe a congratulations is in order here, because all of the nine other teams contended so well against Monkey Girdle and their secret weapon, aka one of their players just won over $70,000 playing on the game show Jeopardy where he went home a winner 3 times!!! The big shock, is that I’m not joking. So my hat is off to Castration Station and Yes That for contending against such a powerhouse of trivia.

Two Tickets at Old Chicago in Thornton
Jul 24th, 2010 by Brian

One team walked away with a pair of movie tickets Thursday at Old Chicago in Thornton….

Round 1 we played Hink Pink. It came down to a four way tie between Beer Me, What Would Tim Tebo Do? Krazy Kittenz, and The Other Other White Meat. Although we had a slew of non-rhyming answers, there were some good laughs, and  Beer Me won a round of drinks.

Round 2, we played Balderdash. The team formally knows at Do You like Tuna? Joined us, although they changed their name by question 2. Jess and Lil Hulk had strong showings, but The Other Other White Meat won it.

They were on a roll, and our BBQ went to the same table.

Our final round of the night, we played Eye Know. Murderface and Project Hard Hat went for the style point win, but Krazy Kittenz won the round.

They were also our big winners of the night, and won a pair of movies tickets.
